  • Atul's practice covers all aspects of employment law, with extensive capabilities and experience in dealing with high value, complex and sensitive matters - from large scale M&A, acqui-hire, outsourcing/insourcing deals with significant employment law elements to strategic union negotiations and bargaining, from sensitive workplace harassment and misconduct investigations to large scale employee exits and restructurings, from representing clients in high value regulatory assessments on social security/PF compliances to handholding them through complex and sensitive senior employee separations.

  • He helped write draft crèche related rules for submission to the Karnataka government and other State governments through the CII and NASSCOM.
  • Atul has been requested by the CII's Task Force on Ease of Doing Business to guide the Central Ministry of Labour and Employment in its initiatives to streamline laws and improve India's investor friendliness, by authoring and submitting an extensive report on Decriminalization of Indian Employment Laws.

Three new labour codes enacted

The Social Security Code, the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code and the Industrial Relations Code were recently passed by Parliament and received presidential assent. The three new labour codes have been enacted in the pursuit of abridging, rationalising and consolidating central and state labour laws and improving India's position in the global 'ease of doing business' index. The three new codes mark the ushering in of a new employment and labour law regime in India.
