Telecsa SA has been established to operate the advanced mobile service as the mobile operator in Ecuador. It is owned by Andinatel SA (the state company awarded the third band for mobile telephony).
Telecsa's stock will be distributed between the state fixed telephone companies Pacifictel SA and Andinatel SA.
The concession right was set at $32.5 million.
The transaction will have the following implications for the sector:
Telecsa has predicted that it will initiate operations in December 2002 with an estimated 200,000 users.
