High Court warns of "exemplary punishments" for solicitors who mislead the court

The High Court, in its recent judgment in Brett v The Solicitors Regulatory Authority, has upheld the findings of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal in relation to a solicitor's breach of the duty not to mislead the court and to act with integrity. The lord chief justice warned that solicitors found to have misled the court could receive "exemplary and deterrent" punishment.
